EXCURSIONS TO EK BALAM

Ek Balam is a little known treasure located 114 km east of Merida in the Yucatan Peninsula.  It is a fabulously preserved remnant of the ancient Mayan City, and infrequently visited by tourists, as most make a beeline for Chichen Itza or Tulum.  Here, you can still climb the 100-foot high tower for magnificent views, and the city boasts three massive ceremonial structures at the center of the 2,500 acre Mayan ruins site.  Ek Balam isn't as big as Chichen Itza, so it is often combined with other tourist attractions in a single day tour, such as those you see below.  The ruins are a very rewarding experience, one many tourists never get to have.

Ek Balam & Cenote Maya Tue-Thurs-Sat from 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM
10 Hrs - Adults $111.20 Kids $87.20
Rio Lagartos & Ek Balam Tues from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
13 Hrs - Adults $129.00 Kids $105.00

Our Advice: These tours are both long days, but well worth it.  Rappelling into cenotes, and watching the flamingos of Rio Lagartos are two very exciting and off-the-beaten-track activities.
